Cookie Policy

1. What Are Cookies

Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They help us keep you signed in, remember your preferences, and understand how you use our service. Some cookies are essential for the site to function; others help us improve your experience or measure the effectiveness of our communications.

2. Your Consent Choices

When you visit Brevr for the first time, we ask for your consent before setting any non-essential cookies. You can:

  • Accept All: Allow all cookie categories including analytics and future marketing cookies.
  • Reject All: Only essential cookies that are strictly necessary for the site to function will be set.
  • Customize: Choose which categories of non-essential cookies you are comfortable with.

You can change your preferences at any time by clicking Cookie Settings in the footer of any page.

Your consent is stored locally on your device and expires after 12 months, at which point we will ask for your consent again.

3. Cookie Categories

We group cookies into the following categories:

Essential Cookies (always active)

These cookies are strictly necessary for the website to function. Without them, you cannot sign in, navigate securely, or use core features. You cannot opt out of essential cookies.

  • Session cookies: Keep you signed in during your browsing session.
  • CSRF tokens: Protect against cross-site request forgery attacks.
  • Security cookies: Detect and prevent malicious activity.

Analytics Cookies (require consent)

These cookies help us understand how visitors interact with Brevr so we can improve the product. All data is aggregated and does not personally identify you.

  • PostHog: We use PostHog to collect usage analytics including pages visited, features used, session duration, device type, browser, and geographic region. PostHog is configured to respect Do Not Track browser signals. PostHog Privacy Policy.

Marketing Cookies (require consent — not currently active)

Marketing cookies are used to deliver personalised advertisements and measure campaign effectiveness. We do not currently use marketing cookies. If we introduce them in the future, we will update this policy and request fresh consent.

4. Third-Party Cookies

We use a limited number of third-party services that may set their own cookies:

  • Stripe: Our payment processor. Stripe sets cookies to detect fraud, manage payment sessions, and comply with financial regulations. These are essential for the checkout flow. Stripe Privacy Policy.
  • Google OAuth: If you choose to sign in with Google, Google may set authentication cookies. Google Privacy Policy.
  • Crisp Chat: Our customer support widget. Crisp may set functional cookies to manage support sessions. Crisp Privacy Policy.

We do not use advertising cookies and we do not sell cookie data to third parties.

5. Cookies in Link Redirects

When someone clicks a Brevr short link, we collect analytics data (geographic location, device type, browser, OS, and referrer) to provide click tracking to the link creator. This analytics is server-side and does not rely on cookies set on the clicker's browser. We do not use this data to personally identify link clickers.

If a link creator has attached retargeting pixels to their short link (Meta Pixel, Google Ads, TikTok Pixel, LinkedIn Insight Tag), those third-party services may set their own cookies on the clicker's device during the redirect. These pixels are configured by our customers, not by Brevr directly.

6. Managing Your Cookie Preferences

You have several ways to control cookies:

  • Brevr Cookie Settings: Click Cookie Settings in the footer of any Brevr page to update your consent preferences at any time.
  • Browser settings: Most browsers let you view, delete, and block cookies. Note that blocking essential cookies will prevent Brevr from functioning properly.

Managing cookies in common browsers:

7. Data Retention

Your cookie consent preference is stored on your device and expires after 12 months. Analytics data collected via PostHog is retained for 2 years, after which it is aggregated or deleted.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this cookie policy from time to time to reflect changes in technology, regulation, or our practices. We will post the updated policy on this page with a new "Last updated" date. If we make material changes — such as introducing a new cookie category — we will reset your consent preference and present the consent banner again.
