Create and Manage Short Links
Creating and managing short links in Brevr takes under a minute. You get a trackable, shareable URL the moment you click Create — no waiting, no setup required.
What You’ll Learn
- How to create a short link with an optional custom alias and UTM parameters
- What settings you can configure on every link
- How to edit, delete, tag, and bulk-manage links
How Short Links Work
Every short link you create redirects visitors to your destination URL instantly. Brevr records each click as an event so you can see traffic by country, device, referrer, and campaign.
You can customize the slug (alias), attach UTM parameters, password-protect the link, set an expiration, and more — all from the same link editor.

How to Delete a Link
Click the … menu on any link row and select Delete. Once deleted, the short link returns a 404 error for anyone who visits it. This action cannot be undone — if you need the link again, you will have to recreate it.
How to Use Tags
Tags let you group and filter links across your dashboard. Add one or more tags when creating or editing a link. To filter your dashboard by tag, click the tag name in the left sidebar or use the filter bar at the top of the link list.
Use tags to separate campaigns, clients, channels, or any grouping that makes sense for your workflow.
How to Use Bulk Actions
- Check the checkboxes next to the links you want to act on (or check the header checkbox to select all)
- Open the bulk action menu that appears at the top of the list
- Choose Delete or Export

How to Use the UTM Builder
UTM parameters are short tags you append to a destination URL so your analytics tool (Google Analytics, Mixpanel, etc.) knows where a visitor came from. Brevr’s built-in UTM builder adds them automatically — you never have to construct them by hand.
Fill in any combination of these fields:
- Source — which platform sent the traffic (e.g.
twitter,newsletter) - Medium — the marketing channel (e.g.
social, email, cpc) - Campaign — the name of your campaign (e.g.
summer-sale-2026) - Term — the paid keyword, if applicable
- Content — used to differentiate versions of the same ad
Brevr appends the values to your destination URL as ?utm_source=...&utm_medium=... before the redirect happens. Your destination page sees them exactly as if you had typed them in manually.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I change a link’s destination URL after sharing it?
Yes — changes are instant. Open the link editor, update the destination URL, and click Save. Everyone who clicks the short link from that moment forward lands on the new destination. Your existing QR codes, social posts, and printed materials keep working.
Does editing a link break my QR code?
No. Your QR code encodes the short link URL, not the destination. When you change the destination URL, the QR code still resolves to the same short link and then redirects to wherever you pointed it. No need to reprint or regenerate the QR code.
Can I restore a deleted link?
No. Deleted links return a 404 permanently and cannot be recovered. If you need the link again, create a new one using the same alias (if it is available) and destination URL.
What is an alias?
The alias is the readable slug at the end of your short URL — the part after the domain. For brevr.one/summer-sale, the alias is summer-sale. If you do not set one, Brevr generates a random short string automatically.
How many links can I create?
Free plans include 2,000 link creations per month. Pro and Business plans have no link creation limit. All plans count each short link creation toward this limit, not each click.
