Set Up a Custom Domain for Your Short Links
Custom domain short links let you replace brevr.one with your own domain — so every link you share reinforces your brand instead of ours. Links like go.yourbrand.com/sale build trust with your audience and consistently outperform generic short links on click-through rate.
What You’ll Learn
- Why custom domains improve brand trust and click-through rates
- How to add a domain and configure your DNS provider
- How to verify, use, and remove a custom domain
How Custom Domains Work
When you connect a custom domain to Brevr, you add a CNAME record at your DNS provider that points your subdomain to Brevr’s servers. Brevr then handles all redirect logic on your behalf. Visitors see your domain in the browser bar — Brevr’s infrastructure is invisible to them.
You own the domain. Brevr never transfers or locks it — you can remove it at any time.
Why Custom Domains Matter
Links that carry your brand name earn more clicks than generic short links. A link like go.yourcompany.com/launch signals to the recipient that it is legitimate and on-brand before they even tap it. Custom domains also make your links consistent across email, social, print, and ads — one brand, one URL pattern.

How to Add a Custom Domain
- Go to Dashboard → Domains
- Click Add Domain
- Enter your domain — for example,
go.yourbrand.com(use a subdomain, not a root domain — see FAQ below) - Copy the CNAME record that Brevr displays — you will add this at your DNS provider in the next step

How to Configure Your DNS
Log in to your DNS provider and add the following CNAME record:
| Type | Name | Value |
|---|---|---|
| CNAME | go | cname.brevr.co |
The Name field is the subdomain prefix only. If your full domain is go.yourbrand.com, enter go — not the full domain. DNS changes usually propagate within minutes but can take up to 48 hours.
Provider-Specific Tips
Cloudflare: After adding the CNAME record, disable the orange cloud proxy icon for that record — click it to switch it to grey (DNS only). Brevr handles SSL termination directly, and the Cloudflare proxy can interfere with certificate provisioning.
GoDaddy / Namecheap / other registrars: Follow the standard CNAME setup for your provider. No special configuration is needed beyond adding the record. If prompted for a TTL, 300 seconds (5 minutes) is a good default.

How to Verify Your Domain
Once your DNS change has propagated, return to the Domains page in Brevr and click Verify next to your domain. Brevr checks that the CNAME is resolving correctly and, if so, activates the domain and shows a green Active badge.
If verification fails, double-check that you saved the record at your DNS provider and that there are no typos in the value. Wait a few minutes and try again — DNS propagation can be slower for some providers.
How to Use Your Domain on a Link
When creating or editing a link, open the domain dropdown in the link editor and select your custom domain instead of the default brevr.one. Every link you create with that domain selected will use your branded URL.
You can use different domains on different links — useful if you manage multiple brands from one workspace.
Plan Limits
| Plan | Custom Domains |
|---|---|
| Free | 1 |
| Pro | 5 |
| Business | 25 |
| Enterprise | Unlimited |
If you need more custom domains than your plan allows, upgrade in Settings → Billing or contact support for an Enterprise quote.
How to Remove a Domain
Go to Dashboard → Domains, click … next to the domain, and select Remove. Brevr immediately stops routing traffic for that domain.
Important: All existing links that use the removed domain will stop working and return a 404 error. Update or recreate those links before removing the domain if you want to preserve the traffic.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to own the domain first?
Yes. You must already own the domain through a registrar (Cloudflare, GoDaddy, Namecheap, Google Domains, etc.) before you can connect it to Brevr. Brevr does not sell or register domains — it only routes traffic for domains you already control.
Can I use a root domain like yourbrand.com?
We recommend using a subdomain like go.yourbrand.com instead. Root domains (also called apex domains) have limitations with CNAME records in the DNS spec — some DNS providers handle this differently, and it can conflict with your main website’s DNS configuration. A short subdomain like go, links, or l is the cleanest approach.
How long does DNS verification take?
Most DNS changes propagate in under 10 minutes. In rare cases it can take up to 48 hours, depending on your DNS provider and the TTL of existing records. If it has been more than an hour, double-check that the record was saved correctly at your provider.
Can two workspaces use the same domain?
No. Each custom domain can only be connected to one Brevr workspace at a time. If you try to add a domain that is already connected elsewhere, Brevr will show an error.
What happens to my links if I remove a domain?
All short links using that domain immediately return a 404 error for visitors. The redirect data is not recoverable from the domain itself. If you plan to remove a domain, update any active links to use a different domain or recreate them on brevr.one first.

Step 3: Add the CNAME Record at Your DNS Provider
Log in to your DNS provider (Cloudflare, GoDaddy, Namecheap, etc.) and add a new CNAME record using the name and value Brevr displayed. If you are on Cloudflare, set the proxy icon to grey (DNS only) so Brevr can handle SSL termination directly.
